There are several communication theories that can be used to inform the design of a messaging strategy. Messages are more likely to be compelling and evoke the desired response if they are grounded in theory.

Choose a communication theory that you think is relevant to messaging. Then, define the theory using plain language. In other words, use terms that someone who doesn’t work in the communication field would understand.

Next, describe an example of an actual messaging strategy and justify how you believe its success can be attributed to or explained by the theory you chose.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

  • Identify a communication theory and define the theory in plain language.
  • Describe an example of a real-world messaging strategy and explain how it informs the theory you chose.
