1)  Students will be analyzing the current economic conditions and provide 2 policy recommendations that will either provide stability or maintain it. Based on a potential GDP of $23.3 trillion and a natural rate of unemployment of 4.3 %, research the tools you learned about in Unit 2 & 3 to help you analyze the health of the economy. Remember that policies can be Fiscal or Monetary. You can use the links given to explain what an analytical essay is and how to compose one.

2)  Make sure to answer the following: (in the intro paragraph)If the economy is experiencing an expansion or recession?Is the economy below or above its potential GDP and Unemployment? Is there inflation?Are interest rates rising?*Terms of the macroeconomic measures discussed in the course (GDP, unemployment, and inflation rates). – Gather annual raw positive data from Bureau of Labor Statistics (, Bureau of Economic Analysis (, The Federal Reserve or other government agencies and departments. – Use tables, graphs, or a chart to present the data. The tables, graphs, and charts must be your own creation. Don’t copy and paste from an external source*You will not need to cite for this information because these are positive statements.
3)  Make sure to SUPPORT your 2 policy recommendations by providing similar examples either from history or examples currently being proposed by a politician or political party. Can be federal or state examples. *YOU WILL NEED to cite for this information because these are normative statements.
*Remember that a Conclusion paragraph is summarizing what you discovered and possibly why your recommendations were chosen. Maybe briefly discuss why you personally chose those policies.
General Guidelines: Paper must be minimum of 1100 words long, typewritten, double-spaced, with 1” margins and 12pt. Times New Roman font. The paper must be written in essay format, using standard written English with a clear introduction and conclusion. You must use at least 3 credible sources to support your policy ideas (avoid sites such as Wikipedia, Investopedia, EHow, yahoo answers, etc. You can contact me or a librarian if you are not sure about the credibility a source) You must use APA-formatted in-text citations (It is important that you identify all items directly copied or paraphrased from other sources.
