Educational Theorist Maria Montessori
It requires you to perform basic online or textual research and write a paper concerning a theory/theorist of your choice. Although I provide basic information about some theorists/theories in this course, each one is much more complex than we have time to cover. Therefore, you will conduct your own research and write a paper that adheres to the guidelines below. The purpose of this assignment is to help you understand a foundational theorist in education to improve your future teaching. Effective teachers look at the implications of theoretical perspectives to determine which approaches match their style and best promote student learning. Understanding learning theories help us to reflect on our practice to make adjustments and improve our teaching practice. These theories are essential since they help us understand how knowledge is created and how our students learn.
- Your paper must also use Times New Roman font (size 12), be double-spaced, and have 1-inch margins all around
- Note: This is a paper (essay) and you must write it as such. Do not simply copy the prompts and guiding questions and write the answers under the questions. You must write it as a cohesive, professional paper as this is a WIN course and I have high expectations for your writing.
- In this paper, you must discuss one of these theories/theorists in a 2-3 page paper, utilizing at least three (3) scholarly sources. Choose the theory with which you most identify as a learner and/or future teacher. Your paper should include the following elements:
- Begin with an introduction that draws your reader’s interest and features a thesis statement that articulates concisely what your paper is about. Your thesis should let the reader know exactly what they will be reading.
- Support your thesis statement in the body of the paper by staying on topic and addressing the prompts and questions below
- Finally, write a concluding paragraph that ends your paper on an insightful note and restates your thesis by paraphrasing it from the introduction. Since the thesis is the central idea of your entire essay, it’s wise to remind the reader of the purpose of your paper. Once you have restated your thesis, you need to recap your supporting points. Extract all of the main points from each of your paragraphs and find a way to wrap up these points in a way that demonstrates the importance of the ideas. Leave your reader with something to think about or something memorable.
