Cultural Humility and The Danger Of The Single Story
As you are aware our course has a multicultural designation and the purpose of this assignment is to provide a multicultural framework for the quarter. It is very important for all of us to keep the framework mentioned in the sources in mind anytime we encounter information and anytime we have cross-cultural, cross-class, etc… encounters.
TASK
First, read the following article on cultural humility:

Second, watch the TED talk by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, an internationally acclaimed Nigerian author.

Then answer the following questions:
- What does the author mean with the notion of “Danger of The Single Story”?
- How does the Danger of The Single Story relate to the principles of cultural humility?
- How can you apply these principles to developmental psychology? Give at least 2 specific examples. Your textbook is a good resource for this question (Chapter 1)
- Reflecting on your own behavior how might you incorporate the information presented by Adichie and the article in your own life? How do you think Adichie’s description would be most beneficially applied? Provide specific examples.
- Any additional comments you would like to share.
- Don’t forget to include in text citations and references for all sources you use (including the TED talk and article listed above).
