- Essay on China’s environmental crises and solution. This essay should address one of China’s present or past environmental crises. One specific region and problem should be identified. Depth of analysis is much more important than width of coverage. It is fine to select a region of one city, one community or one major polluting source. It should introduce the problem from the scientific perspective and its significance for China and the world (5%), analyze its causes from source, technology, governance and/or policy perspectives (25%) and provide corresponding solutions with justification and analysis (10%). Academic rigor should be followed with proper citations. Quantitative analysis is much better than qualitative description. The expected length of this paper is 1,000~1,500 words, excluding references.
