Recommendation Report

Purpose & Description

The purpose of the recommendation report is to identify a specific need, opportunity, or problem that warrants immediate attention and action and present informed recommendations as to how to best address the issue. Providing persuasive recommendations will require that you conduct secondary  research and then discuss the credible sources in your own words. Do not include multiple quotes or lengthy quotes in your formal report. I want to see that you can discuss someone else’s ideas, concepts, and arguments in your own language but still provide proper attribution when doing so. Please be advised that if your recommendation report contains any plagiarized content, then you will earn a “0” on the assignment.

This assignment is two-fold in nature. Specifically, it will entail that you research a particular topic in order to answer a specific, feasible research question(s) and then write a recommendation report in which you argue the necessity of the deliverable, explain your research design, explain your research process, report your findings, and pose specific recommendations.

Given the complexity and multi-faceted nature of this assignment, please do not wait until the last minute to begin this project as it is very time-consuming assignment. You are expected to practice effective time management given that you must conduct extensive secondary research, read and analyze said research, draft and revise your recommendation report.

Weighted at 15% of the final course grade, this project is the culmination and operationalization of all the course learning outcomes which include:

Recommendation Report Requirements

The requirements for the recommendation report include that it:

  • Is 4-7 pages of single-spaced text (NOT including the front and back matter)
  • Includes a discussion of at least 10 peer-reviewed journal articles
  • Is organized at the micro- and macro-levels
  • Is error-free
  • Is APA formatted
  • Includes a minimum of three (3) purposely integrated visuals, e.g. charts, tables, graphs, images, figures, etc. Although it is suggested, you do not have to create all or any of required images. However, if you use someone else’s visual in your recommendation report then you must cite it. Not doing so is a form of plagiarism.

Recommendation Report Content & Organization

Table 18.1 identifies the purposes of each section, the sample recommendation report that begins on page 504 demonstrates how to operationalize these purposes, and the writer’s checklist on page 528 is an effective tool for self-assessment.
